The importance of balance

A good exercise plan requires you to think about a few things. Sports and physical exertion can always have both a negative and a positive impact on the body, depending on the form, intensity, frequency, and motivation.

Moderate-to-intense exercise on a regular basis, exercising outdoors (in the woods, or on the beach), exercising for pleasure, going for a daily walk, and doing meditative forms of exercise such as yoga and tai chi all reduce stress and increase your long-term resistance.

Acute intensive exertions on an irregular basis, pushing yourself to extremes, exhausting endurance training, exercising obsessively, exercise addiction, exercising when you don’t want to, exercising indoors (too little oxygen), and exercising on busy roads (exhaust fumes) are more likely to have a harmful effect on your health. They can cause chronic stress and lower your long-term resistance. Moreover, they deprive your body of nutrients and energy that are important for fighting cancer.
